THE LONDON LIBRARY
29 FEBRUARY – 5 APRIL 2020
An immersive re-imagining of the HG Wells iconic text, The Time Machine, saw us re-invent and piece back together a world in which the present is endlessly shifting and the future is strange and uncertain. Lead through the mahogany soaked surroundings of The London Library, our fellow travellers tinkered with timelines causing people’s names, faces and indeed the colour of their socks to change without warning.
Drawing on cutting edge research from the Wellcome Centre for Ethics and Humanities and incorporated into the script by writer Jonathan Holloway (Don Quixote, Brave New World and 1984), The Time Machine raised important questions about the future of neuroscience, big data, genomics and global connectedness.
“There is lots of interest here. The playfulness can be engaging as the show frolics around ideas about what time travel might do…” Stagedoor
