7TH JULY -1OTH SEPTEMBER 2005
HEADINGTON HILL PARK, OXFORD
Back by popular demand, director Zoe Seaton and visual consultant Paul McEneaney returned to re-imagine this spellbinding production. Stilt-walking Titania and Oberon towered over the rest of the cast whilst Puck performed magic tricks including making Lysander levitate and appearing from impossibly small places! Hilarious performances from Tom Edden as Quince and Darren Ormandy, who returned to play Bottom, had audiences rolling in the isles throughout the final mechanicals scene.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream performed to sell out audiences and standing ovations.
A combination of magic, stunning illusions and colourful costumes made this a lively summer production to remember.
“Magic and stilt walking gives Oberon and Titania a convincingly other-worldy presence.”
“Creation have the perfect setting for Shakespeare’s lightest comedy about mischief and misunderstandings, which is produced with fantastic energy and imagination. The cast make use of their stunning acrobatics skills to bring to life the magical world of the Dream.”
“The cast faithfully re-produce the comedy in its familiar and well-loved form but the zest and vitality of their individual performances brings it bang up to date. With perfect comedy timing Shakespeare’s timeless lines are brought vividly to life so as to have us rolling in the aisles with laughter. This play sparkles with the true ingenuity that only Shakespeare can conjure and with the liberal use of trickery, diversion and levitation the cast rise to the occasion and deliver truly glittering performances.”
