8TH JULY – 3RD SEPTEMBER 2011
SAID BUSINESS SCHOOL
Summer 2011 we brought a bit of Egypt and Rome to Oxford, with a powerful performance of Shakespeare’s passionate historical love story, Antony & Cleopatra. Turning the Said Business School’s atmospheric Amphitheatre into the crumbling remains of fallen empire, Shakespeare’s grown up love story played out under the stars.
Reviews
“… the delivery is zesty… the amphitheatre at the Saïd Business School proves an apt setting, allowing the grander speeches to reverberate sonorously, while being small enough for the most intimate scenes. Productions of Antony and Cleopatra are a surprisingly rare occurrence – this one is a rare treat, and highly recommended.”
Andrew Blades, The Stage
“Creation Theatre Company is back in the outdoor amphitheatre at the Saïd Business School — a stunning setting that is itself a star of any production it hosts — with a fast-paced and lucid account of Shakespeare’s tragedy Antony and Cleopatra.”
Christopher Gray, The Oxford Times
“Creation’s Antony and Cleopatra is a terrific version of one of Shakespeare’s richest plays, performed here in the original (edited) text. Creation has concocted yet another excellent outdoor production to enhance the summer cultural offer of the city. We are lucky to have such an innovative and talented local theatre company in Oxford.”
