Our Spritelings (aged 5-7) are our youngest digital performers and will spend the term exploring some of literature’s best loved classic stories in a fun, engaging and unique way. Using your computer screens as a portal to new worlds, you’ll embark on an exciting journey where you’ll meet crazy characters and discover truly magical lands. Each week’s story will be brought to life in your home through a range of interactive activities, games and challenges and is accompanied by a weekly postal storytelling package that keeps the creativity alive long after screen time is over. Weekly sessions are delivered live over Zoom by a professional actor and accompanied by physical creative resources sent through the post. This is an experience specifically crafted for our new digital stage, not just “drama on Zoom” and incorporates a range of storytelling techniques and new technologies that we use in our professional productions.
Across the 12 weeks of term we’ll introduce 12 different classic stories, including some Shakespeare, and bring them to life through a variety of games, storytelling exercises and theatre-making techniques, specially tailored for children aged 5-7. Through the sessions our members learn storytelling skills, build confidence and develop creativity, as well as encourage the development of literacy skills in an exciting and accessible way.
Sessions can be accessed anywhere with an internet connection and bring together young storytellers and explorers from all over the country (and world!), encouraging inter-personal creativity and connection in a time when we all need it.
This is creativity without limits and an online experience like no other, worlds away from a reality of social distancing, bubbling and hand sanitiser. Sessions will go ahead in spite of any new restrictions put in place, giving some much-needed stability and continuity for our young members.
