In 2016 Creation Theatre took a leap into the unknown taking a Shakespeare play, pulling it apart and putting it back together as an interactive, gamified, adventure experience. The audience discovered the story across 13 non theatrical locations. 3,200 people met characters in disguise, broke into cafes, spied on fairies and experienced Shakespeare in the most vibrant and inventive way obliterating the traditional boundaries of performance.
The audience response was astounding leading to a revival the following year which was a finalist for Best Theatre for Young People at the Off West End awards.
We were left determined to make more shows in this format and with a passionate belief that this style of work can truly rival on demand TV, computer games and virtual reality and keep our theatre ecology thriving.
We are therefore delighted that we have the opportunity to apply the same approach to a production of The Tempest for summer 2019.
Making a show like this is hugely complex and demanding on our resources so needs considerable financial support. Arts Council England have confirmed they will fund £32,000 of the shows costs, but in order to unlock that funding we need to raise £6,000 by the 18 March.
We urgently need your help to reach this goal, please consider becoming one of the Activators for this production or putting us in touch with other individuals who you think may be able to help.
Activators are donors who make a critical difference to a project through financial support. They are the real life super heroes who support making great theatre happen, and in return they get some very exclusive perks as a thank you.
