Robin Hood
20 July - 8 September
Headington Hil Park

INTRODUCTION
Headington Hill Park became Oxford’s own Sherwood Forest in this exciting new adaptation of the Robin Hood story. The fast-paced, thrilling production was written by Darren Ormandy who had previously wowed Creation audiences with his portrayal of Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 2005. The set, designed by Cleo Pettit, made excellent use of the beautiful arboretum, and renowned folk musician and composer Jon Boden set the tone with incidental music and folk-style songs which were sung by the cast.
Actors Tom Peters as Robin Hood and Seamus Allen as hilarious thespian Alan a Dale valiantly stole from the rich and gave to the poor. They also had a number of spectacular fights with Scott Brooksbank as the hilariously wicked Sherriff of Nottingham with an unfortunate wig, shot off at one point by one of Robin Hood’s arrows! A more serious note was set by Eleanor Montgomery’s evil Lady Gisburne, a witch trying to open a door to the underworld deep in the heart of the forest…
