As You Like It Poster

INTRODUCTION

The leafy glade setting of Headington Hill Park helped to transport audiences to The Forest of Arden for this charming production of As You Like It. The whole cast shone in a variety of haunting solos and duets as well as comedy ensemble song and dance routines – some of which involved the cunning use of umbrellas! Some speedy doubling saw Tom Peters excel as the melancholy Jaques and lovelorn Silvius. As You Like It also went on to delight audiences for The Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury where it was performed in the amongst the ruins of St Augustine’s Abbey. Directed by Charlotte Conquest, it was a revival of her earlier production in 2001.

REVIEWS

"Kirsty Dillon plays Rosalind with enthusiasm and a touch of vulnerability, carrying off the gender ambiguity unfussily. Amy Stacy creates an enchanting Celia, and Annabelle Dowler is an entertaining vitriolic Phebe. Seamus Allen played the Fool with energy and panache: every word was exploited with attention. Meanwhile Tom Peters and Justin Webb at times threatened to steal the show as various background characters...This production should be one of the highlights of Oxford's summer."
