Introduction

The ultimate tale of obsession, insanity and revenge was retold in a bold, modern style within the atmospheric walls of Oxford Castle.

Shakespeare’s greatest tragedy about Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, sworn to kill his uncle by his father’s ghost was given a up to date twist by director Gari Jones and designer Sara Perks. Hamlet was envisioned as a brooding teenager with Ophelia as his “emo” style girlfriend. The cast included returning actors Gavin Molloy, Amanda Haberland and Pepe Balderrama. Music by Muse, My Chemical Romance and Garbage set the scene for the drama and emotional procrastination.
