Jekyll & Hyde

8th June - 6th July 2013

Blackwell's Bookshop

A story of good versus evil in the body of one man

A fast paced, sixty minute one man show of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic tale of terror. Once again we immersed our audience in the 6 miles of bookshelves of Blackwell’s iconic Norrington Room using the space in new and surprising ways to create Creation’s most intimate show to date.

Working with Director Caroline Devlin the show saw the return of the lighting and sound team behind our Doctor Faustus, 2011. Michael Palmer returned to Creation to play seven parts in one hour and brought the backstreets and underbelly of Victorian London to life.

Director and Adaptor: Caroline Devlin
Sound Designer: Matt Eaton
Lighting Designer: Ashley Bale
Movement Director: Vanessa Cook
Costume Assistant: Ginny Graham

Actor: Michael Palmer

“A compelling performance, and making it into a one-man job is a clever trick – more than anything, The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is about the conflicting personalities within one human being.” The Stage

“The combination of excellent acting from Palmer and a spooky atmosphere provide the perfect setting for Jekyll & Hyde. I also was inspired to reread the novel, having last encountered it at school. Overall, a gothic treat on a cloudy summer evening – not to be missed!” Daily Info

“An excellent interpretation of the Jekyll and Hyde story by Caroline Devlin, giving a sense of reality to this epic story. Michael Palmer acts out all the characters with wit and dexterity.” Trip Advisor
