St Hugh's College

“Curiouser and curiouser”

To mark the 150th anniversary of the publication of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Creation set loose the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat and the Queen of Hearts in a new adaptation for Alice fans young and old with magic, music, puppetry and acrobatics.

Staged at the iconic St Hugh’s College, audiences promenaded around the beautiful lawns and gardens as they followed Alice on a journey of self-discovery as she came to terms with what it truly means to grow-up.

“Director Helen Tennison has pulled a dazzling masterpiece out of this rabbit hole, with a show which appeals as much to adults as the children for whom the story is intended. But, as the White Rabbit would say: don’t be late; you only have until Sunday to catch this theatrical highlight of the summer. 5/5”
The Oxford Times

“This is a well-known story that has been crammed full of ideas, pushed and stretched to an almost bewildering degree, but fortunately never losing sight of the core ideas that make the source text so valuable.”
The Guardian

“If you would enjoy Lewis Carroll’s characters brought vividly to life, in a production which develops the themes and plays with the ideas rather than sticking to the script, you should buy your tickets now for a truly memorable experience. The children in the audience on the first night enjoyed it immensely, loved recognising the characters, and delighted in the playfullness.” Daily Info

“I overheard one little girl in the audience ask if the dormouse (a puppet) was real. I think it’s this that makes Creation productions such a joy to watch. They weave a spell over the audience so that it’s easy to get swept up in the moment, and forget the mechanics of what you’re watching. ★★★★.” Stage Talk
