A Midsummer Night's Dream

23rd June - 30th July 2016

Across West Oxford

“Give me your hands, if we be friends”

Directed by iconic creation director Zoe Steaton, our interactive treasure hunt version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream staged in and around West Oxford city centre saw us following fairy footsteps and those all-important texts from Puck. Our first Arts Council funded production saw us work with over ten venues in the city to create magic and mischief around every corner for audience of all ages.

Reviews

“A piece of theatre which smashed the fourth wall to bring Shakespeare forward into the 21st century. This light-hearted roller-coaster was witty, entertaining and a breath of fresh air to spending three hours stuck in a stuffy theatre.★★★★★” -The Oxford Times

“This production wonderfully embeds the ‘real world’ of the play in the real world of beautiful buildings, streets and gardens. We find that it’s not only Oxford’s spires that dream – following a fairy pair down Hollybush Row, spying their king and queen through holes in a wall near OVADA, the audience is taken off the beaten track… Audience participation is sometimes a bore, but our thespians had us auditioning as nocturnal creatures and joining in with easy glee…. Fantastic.” – Daily Info
“‘Great acting, laugh out loud comedy. Would highly recommend and hopefully will come again!★★★★★” – Audience member on Trip Advisor

“What a wonderful adventure we had following a trail of clues around Oxford last night, meeting characters up close, making daft noises on cue, and laughing until our ribs hurt. A Midsummer Night’s Dream has never been this much fun before.Anyone within striking distance of Oxford should try to go to this – it’s a hoot!” – Audience member on Facebook

“My face is still recovering from seeing this hysterically funny rendition of a Midsummer Night’s Dream. I haven’t laughed so much in ages! Everyone in our party of 10 loved it! All the cast were fabulous – they lead us on this crazy adventure through parts of Oxford we didn’t even know existed. If you’re in Oxford this Summer and have to choose one thing to do – definitely go and see this!!!★★★★★”- Audience member on Trip Advisor

“Part treasure hunt, part role play, with plenty of performance from an excellent cast. From the moment we got our first clue, I was hooked! Theatre as it should be: involved and fun! Go, you’ll be pleased you did!” -Audience member on Facebook

“The most imaginative and funny A Midsummer night’s dream I have ever seen. Enjoy discovering Oxford whilst being delighted by Shakespeare as you have never imagined. A wonderful night out in every sense, accessible to all. Can’t recommend it enough. ★★★★★” -Audience member on Trip Advisor
